Howdy!
This program seems to have more fans than I ever imagined. So, here is an
'official' release.
Some remarks about it:
This program was written as a 'mini-hack' at the german Amiga users meeting
in Bielefeld 1992, sometime around friday night, as Froh moaned '...that he
could not use Enforcer together with his stone-age-SCSI-controller, because
Enforcer would register the controller-accesses to the hardware at 0xee0000
as 'hits'....
Reason for this: his controller bound no AutoConfig-Node into the
ExpansionList, it just accesses its hardware.... :)
What should we do? Well, what Enforcer needed to be happy, was just
information, that it should ignore the 0xee0000 addresses. Normally, this is
done with an auto-config node. So this program creates one.
Doing this is so blatant, that I'm ashamed, that noone else had the same
idea.
The program was written in about two minutes and is written in DICE 2.06.39
(reg).
And then somebody put this one in a german mailbox net and it seems to work
with at least the following harddisk-controllers:
- c't omti-controller, if the controller is at 0xee0000 liegt (Rev. 2 PBC)
(this is from a german computer magazine)
- ALF - SCSI Controller (the *VERY* old version without autoconfig)
- Evolution V 2.x controller
Three more things:
- the name was created by accident, OmtiFroh is *NOT* called 'OmtiFroh',
because if makes the Controller (omti) happy (froh is german for 'happy') but
because it was written for 'froh' (this is the IRC nick of Frohwalt Egerer
(ftegerer@cip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de).
- This is public domain. Use it or abuse it. If you're really really sure, that
these few lines of C, which were written half asleep, are worth a reward, then
I won't stop you from sending me one.
I give absolutely no warranties for any damages resulting from using this program.
